Erectile Dysfunction. Canary in the coal mine?

E.D. is widely known as an early warning sign for heart disease.

A simple solution to a big problem---that just might end up saving your life

A simple solution to a big problem—that just might end up saving your life

That’s because they’re essentially the same disease—restricted blood flow caused by the build-up of plaque in the arteries. So it’s kind of like the canary in the coal mine—an early warning system of a more serious disease, America’s #1 killer—heart disease. And you can easily cure both of them—with the same treatment: a diet consisting primarily of whole, plant-based foods.

One of my standard speeches has this attention-grabbing title:

Erectile dysfunction can save your life, reduce global warming, end world hunger AND help you lose weight.

That’s because the best solution for heart disease is switching immediately to the natural diet for our species—a whole foods, plant-based diet. That diet will also fix your heart disease—hopefully, before you have your first heart attack. It will also do some wonderful things for global warming and the ecosystem, while enabling us to feed all of the world’s seven billion people on far less than half the land that we’re using today.

For your convenience, this page is now included in the new alphabetical listing under the “Diseases” tab of this site.

Posted below is a 3-minute video where a group of doctors talk candidly about E.D. and it’s relation to heart disease. They don’t talk about the plant-based solution, but they do make the connection between E.D. and heart disease. Why don’t they mention the plant-based solution? Because there’s about a 95% chance that they don’t know about it. Whatever nutrition is being taught in med schools these days is a far cry from a powerful disease-reversing whole foods, plant-based diet—that would reverse heart disease and E.D.

Now for that 3-minute video

Appearing below is another slightly longer video that is basically an online advertisement for a new Mens Health Center. While it clearly makes the connection between E.D. and Heart Disease, it doesn’t mention the plant-based solution for either. They simply talk about sending the E.D. patients to see cardiologists—causing the patient to invest more time, money and anxiety in a disease that can be easily reversed in most cases with a whole foods, plant-based diet.

Toward the end of the video, they interview a pretty sad looking, obese patient as one of their success stories. What a sad state of affairs in our healthcare system.

A sad 5-minute story of patients not being told all of their options

One-on-one MD Help. Sadly, 95% of our medical doctors are not aware of the power of plant-based nutrition to combat many chronic diseases, including E.D. If you would like a second opinion (about E.D.) from a medical doctor who truly “gets it” about food, you may wish to visit our MD Help page and schedule a telephone consultation with one of the MDs listed there.

Want to do some more reading? Here are a few of my earlier blogs on this topic. Also, since E.D. is essentially the same disease as heart disease (plaque in arteries impeding blood flow), you may also wish to visit our Heart Disease (#1 killer) Page on this site. It may provide more incentive for you to take care of your coronary arteries before it’s too late. E.D is just an inconvenience when compared to having a heart attack.

“4Leaf for Life”—We’d like some feedback.

It’s time for our first ever online poll.

4Leaf ClockA little background. Our 4Leaf for Life concept was created in time to be included in Chapter 10 of our book which was published in October, 2011. We added the 4Leaf Survey to this website in March of 2012 and since that time the “Take the 4Leaf Survey” page has been viewed almost 4,000 times.

We’re still planning to create a smartphone app for this survey—just waiting for sufficient funding. We’ve received a ton of positive feedback about the 4Leaf concept and many of you have requested that it be automated.

Right now, we’d like to get some feedback. If you haven’t taken the survey, consider taking it now—takes less than three minutes.

  • For just the one-page survey form, click here (printer-friendly PDF)
  • For a little background and some instructions on the survey, click here.
  • You don’t need to print out the form, just make two columns on a piece of paper. One column for “plus” numbers (Questions 1-4) and one column for “minus” numbers (Questions 5-12).
  • Add up your two columns to compute your net score, which identifies your current 4Leaf level. This will definitely be easier when we get that app.
  • For a printer friendly 4Leaf Chart for your refrigerator, click here

Click here if you’d like to take the 4Leaf Survey before doing the poll.

This first poll is self-explanatory.

Now, check up to five (5) items that you particularly like about 4Leaf

Today’s polls were the first for me. This is a handy tool and I expect to use it more in the future. As you know, my blog about Lance was somewhat controversial; it would be interesting to run this poll sometime next week—“Can you forgive Lance Armstrong?”

Heart Disease—All you need to know on one page

Just say NO to Heart Disease! (3 powerful videos)

If you want to get rid of your heart disease without surgery or if you want to make your children “heart attack proof” for their entire lives, you’ve found the right page.

For your convenience, this page is now included in the new alphabetical listing under the “Diseases” tab of this site.

Caldwell Esselstyn, MD. Director of Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Reversal at the Wellness Institute of the Cleveland Clinic.

Caldwell Esselstyn, MD, along with Dr. Ornish and Dr. Campbell, influenced President Clinton to reverse his heart disease.

Our nation’s #1 killer, heart disease, is easily reversible in 95% of the cases with the simple adoption of a whole foods, plant-based diet. That has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt by the two well-known physicians (Ornish and Esselstyn) who influenced President Clinton to walk away from meat and dairy and adopt a whole foods, plant-based diet.

Since Mr. Clinton read their books and The China Study by Dr. T. Colin Campbell, he has reversed his heart disease, lost weight and is now enjoying vibrant health. As Dr. Esselstyn says:

“The truth be known, coronary artery disease is a toothless paper tiger that need never exist and if it does exist, it need never progress.”

—Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr, Director of Cardiovascular Disease Prevention & Reversal at the Wellness Institute of The Cleveland Clinic.

This page leads off with three videos (4 minutes, 2 minutes and 40 minutes). They’re all related to the CNN special, The Last Heart Attack with Dr. Sanjay Gupta that first aired in late August of 2011. Taking charge of your health in just 46 minutes—for free!!

  1. The first video is a 4-minute segment during which Dr. Gupta is being interviewed by Ali Velshi, a co-host of American Morning on CNN. Sanjay makes it very clear to Ali in this video that he completely “gets it” after working for months to produce The Last Heart Attack Special.
  2. The second video is just two minutes and features Dr. Esselstyn and one of his patients who just said NO to surgery and proceeded to reverse her heart disease with parsnips, greens and sweet potatoes.
  3. Finally, the entire 40-minute special with Dr. Sanjay Gupta. It features President Clinton and Dr. Esselstyn and compares two treatment regimens: Open heart surgery or eating whole plants. Watch the video and then decide which option is best for you.

Ali Velshi of CNN interviews Dr. Gupta

Before watching the entire 40-minute special—Take a look at the two-minute highlight below—featuring Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn and Sharon Kintz, one of his patients.

Entire 40-Minute Special—CNN, August 2011

If you watched the above videos, you now know from very credible sources how you and your family can easily prevent or reverse heart disease. So now you might ask, how can I do that?

4-LEAF_FORLIFEI recommend that you start with our 4Leaf Survey which will help you assess how healthful your diet is now; then you might want to review more helpful information about how to get started with lots of whole foods, plant-based recipes:

Dean Ornish, M.D., along with Esselstyn, influenced President Clinton to walk away from meat and dairy, eat whole plants and reverse his heart disease.
