Heard about “Mo-vember” for cancer awareness?

Growing mustaches in November to raise awareness AND funds

When “Movember” is sponsored in businesses, those who don’t participate feel guilt and embarrassment—and maybe even suffer a little abuse from their co-workers.

It’s November 1, and another “cancer train” is about to leave the station.

Billions of dollars are raised every year to support awareness, the search for the cure and treatment of a host of chronic diseases—most of which can be prevented, slowed, stopped or even reversed by simply eating whole, plant-based foods. As for awareness, I would bet that there is not a single adult in the United States that has not heard about prostate cancer for men, breast cancer for women and colon cancer for all-comers.

What about the AWARENESS for WHOLE PLANTS? The awareness of how whole plants can prevent and/or reverse chronic disease is practically non-existent.

Why are not even medical doctors AWARE of how most chronic diseases can be prevented, stop, slowed or reversed?

Just this week, I heard from Sue Anne, who I met this summer. She called me from her home in Florida on 10-29-12. She had read our book and just wanted to call and tell me that she had adopted the 4Leaf for Life way of eating and that she was thrilled.

She explained that her doctor was “blown away” when he heard what she was doing. At her last visit, her blood sugar levels had dropped significantly as had her cholesterol and blood pressure numbers. So her doctor cut her prescription doses in half and expects to eliminate them completely at her next visit.

Why is Sue Anne’s medical doctor not “AWARE” of how to reverse disease?

We have been raising billions for “awareness” of disease, but no one is raising money for the plant-based solution—even though it is right under our noses. It’s what we put in our mouth three or four meals a day.

Imagine Natalie Portman helping to create awareness for whole plants for preventing cancer, while illustrating how to “shave” the cost of health care, just as she has shaved her head.

But now, there’s going to be something else under those noses out there. There’s going to be a lot of hair—and none of it is going to do a bit of good when it comes to saving lives.

A better idea. Maybe we should respond to “Mo-vember” with a shaved head for December. That move by men and women alike could raise “awareness” in two ways:

  1. Many cancer victims could be spared needless suffering or death—if they were simply told about the ability of whole, plant-based foods to prevent and/or reverse many chronic diseases—including most cancers.
  2. The “SHAVING” of the head could also raise “awareness” for SHAVING the $2.8 trillion cost of healthcare (disease care) in the United States.

All those celebrities out there are willing to wear that silly milk mustache to support the toxic dairy industry, perhaps they’d be willing to shave their heads for an awareness cause that would really make a difference—in so many ways. The source article below describes the Movember initiative:

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.

Taylor Swift with her “milk”mustache; a campaign that does a lot more harm than good.

The Bottom Line. Although well intentioned, Movember will not help solve the cancer problem in this country. To make matters worse—it will make non-participating men everywhere feel anxiety, stress and discomfort in their communities or at work. The inspiration for this blog came from one of those men:

The company I work for is trying to get employees to participate in Movember this year. I am dreading telling everyone that I refuse to participate on ethical grounds. I do not wish to support conventional cancer research when I know that it’s just another big industry that will never really be motivated to find a cure. I know that I’m going to sound like a huge jerk for trying to communicate my views on mainstream cancer research.

I’m truly convinced – after reading your book, your blog, the China Study, and the dozens of articles you cite – that mainstream cancer research is just a money-making machine and there’s no incentive to actually help people get well.

FYI, November 1 is also World Vegan Day!

For your convenience, I have provided the source article for this blog along with a few of my other blogs on the mighty cancer industry. (Today is my 635th consecutive daily blog, with numerals from the LBJ Freeway in Dallas.)

Nobel Prize in Chemistry; All about the drugs—and the $$

Finding Better Drugs Makes Lots of Money!

The Nobel Prize

Whereas, promoting health and avoiding disease does not. For that reason, we hear news every day about the continuous search for high-tech drugs that will enable us to protect ourselves from our bad habits or cure us once we have been stricken by disease. Recently (10-11-12) we heard the following news about the Nobel Prize:

Two American researchers won the Nobel Prize in chemistry Wednesday for studies of protein receptors that let body cells sense and respond to outside signals like danger or the flavour of food. Such studies are key for developing better drugs.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said Robert Lefkow-itz and Brian Kobilka had made groundbreaking discoveries, mainly in the 1980s, on an important family of receptors, known as G-protein-coupled receptors.

About half of all medications act on these receptors, including beta blockers and antihistamines, so learning about them will help scientists to come up with better drugs.

Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn of the Cleveland Clinic has reversed heart disease in nearly 100% of his patients — with diet change only.

Just as Dr. Esselstyn of the Cleveland Clinic faced ridicule from his peers when he started reversing heart disease in over 95% of his terminal heart patients; there continues to be no appreciation for simple, effective and inexpensive ways of promoting vibrant health. Back in the 80s, when Dr. Esselstyn started reversing disease with nothing more than a change in diet, he was mockingly called “Dr. Sprouts” by the other physicians.

After all, those macho heart surgeons had spent the better part of their life mastering their skills. And along with those skills came drama, prestige, excitement, power—and a boatload of money. Now someone comes along and says that we can simply eliminate the disease itself instead treating it. And we can do that with oatmeal, broccoli, spinach and Brussels sprouts.

Dr. Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn. Both should receive the Nobel Prize—and I hope to live to see the day it happens.

That was thirty years ago, now all of the money is following the high drama route of high tech drugs and genetics. And we’re still ignoring the fact that 80% of our diseases are driven by our toxic western diet.

All we need to do is eat the right food and those diseases never happen in the first place. And, in many cases, they can also be reversed. As Dr. Esselstyn says about our nation’s #1 killer:

Heart disease is a toothless paper tiger that need never exist. And if it does exist, it need never progress.

But he has received no big prizes for his work. Nor has Dr. T. Colin Campbell. Together, along with a few other pioneering medical doctors, they have provided us with a clear roadmap to health. But the Cleveland Clinic is not promoting that clear path—nor is the Department of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University.

Likewise, the Nobel Prize team is following the money and ignoring the immediate—and almost miraculous results of eating a near-optimal, whole foods, plant-based diet. But I am still hopeful that eventually these two great men will be rightfully honored for their incredible contributions.

With both of them vibrantly healthy and going strong in their seventies, the good folks at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences still have a few more decades to make things right—by awarding their coveted prize to the two most deserving recipients ever. (My 634th consecutive daily blog)

Early puberty problem in America; continuing to worsen.

And most of the medical community has no clue why.

Dr. John McDougall

But, thankfully, a few enlightened physicians know exactly what is happening and why. What is it going to take to JOLT us into action when it comes to promoting health?

It’s one thing if we adults don’t care what happens to our bodies, but it’s borderline criminal when it comes to what we’re doing to our kids. Last week, I heard Dr. John McDougall quote some alarming statistics:

  • 3% of African-American girls are beginning puberty at age 3.
  • 50% of African-American girls have entered puberty by age 8.

And it’s not just the African-American girls, it’s also happening to boys, both black and white. According to an AAP study released last week, (See link below)

Boys in the United States are reaching puberty some 6 months to 2 years earlier than a few decades ago, reflecting the trend in girls, according to a new study by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) published online before print on Saturday. The study authors suggest more research should now be done to find out why this is happening.

Lots of published evidence shows girls are reaching puberty earlier, and this is now generally accepted, but until now, there hasn’t been as much research on whether today’s boys are also showing a similar tendency.

My friend, Dr. Joel Fuhrman in his office in New Jersey

Find out why this is happening? I wrote my first blog on this topic in April of 2011 and reached out to two medical experts for information. Replying to my request, Dr. John McDougall said “Interesting – I have been writing about this since the early 80s. I know what the cause is.”

Also Dr. Joel Furhman weighed in on this topic…referring me to this quote from his book, Disease-Proof Your Child:

Early puberty is obviously not due to any one factor, but rather to the combined effect of the modern diet of processed foods, cheese, daily animal products and the lack of fresh produce….Early puberty is strongly associated with breast cancer and the occurrence of breast cancer is three times higher in women who started puberty before age twelve.

The Bottom Line. There may be other contributing factors, but enlightened experts like Dr. McDougall and Dr. Fuhrman agree that the primary reason for this early puberty is simply that:

We’re eating the wrong food!

This was the “blinding flash of the obvious” that I experienced in 2003. And this problem is still getting worse. Just like all of our other health issues. Since beginning this blog in February of 2011, this is my 22nd post about the children—the saddest part of this whole food and healthcare mess that we have created in the western world.

Here are a few of my blogs about early puberty and a few others about health issues for kids in general. Circulate these around, maybe they will help JOLT some loving parents to their senses. (My 633rd consecutive daily blog)
