Where do you get your calcium? From plants or animals?

Got milk? Guess what else you’ve “got with it?” Warning. This post could be harmful to your milk-drinking habits.

Humans are the only species in history that drink the milk of another species and the only species that has ever drunk any milk at all after weaning.

This is the fifth in a series of six posts featuring my colleague, Dr. Michael Greger, who is in the process of following through with his commitment to publish a new video for the first 365 days of his new site. While traveling this week, I pulled together a few of the most provocative videos that he has published so far.

Here is one (about 3 minutes) about where we humans should be getting our calcium; from health promoting plants with fiber, folate, etc — or from animal foods containing cholesterol, pesticides, manure and pus.

From the nutritionfacts.org website: Michael Greger, M.D., is a physician, author, and internationally recognized speaker on nutrition, food safety, and public health issues.  A founding member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Dr. Greger is licensed as a general practitioner specializing in clinical nutrition. Currently he serves as the Director of Public Health and Animal Agriculture at the Humane Society of the United States. Dr. Greger is a graduate of the Cornell University School of Agriculture and the Tufts University School of Medicine.
