All you need to know about preventing or reversing type 2 diabetes
Five medical doctors, five videos and ten referenced blogposts. This is the single page that you should send to friends or family who may have an interest in getting rid of their type 2 diabetes.
In the last chapter of our book, we cited a statistic projecting that over the next forty years, the prevalence of type 2 diabetes in the USA would rise from one in ten to an astounding one in three. This, for a disease that is easily reversible 95% of the time. And these five medical doctors can show you how.
Beginning with arguably the most famous “real doctor” in the world, Dr. Dean Ornish; here’s what he wrote for the endorsement to our book:
“What’s good for you is also good for our planet. Although heart disease and diabetes kill more people worldwide than all other diseases combined, these are completely preventable and often reversible for at least 95% of the people today by changing our diet and lifestyle. This book shows you how.”
––Dean Ornish, M.D., Clinical Professor of Medicine, UC San Francisco; author, The Spectrum and Dr. Dean Ornish’s Program for Reversing Heart Disease.
In addition to serving as a consulting physician for President Clinton since 1993, Dr. Ornish has an impeccable record as a medical school professor, author and the founder of the non-profit Preventive Medicine Research Institute. This man is the real deal. You can trust this man. So why are millions of Americans ignoring his advice about eliminating their type 2 diabetes or their heart disease?
Because an estimated 95% of all of our best and brightest (including medical doctors, nutritional scientists, and dietitians) still believe that we actually “need” to eat animal protein to be healthy. They also believe that moving all the way to a whole foods, plant-based diet-style would be too extreme — and that most people simply wouldn’t do it.
But shouldn’t we be given a choice? Shouldn’t we all be told the truth about the power of plant-based eating so that each of us can make our own decision? Of course we should; yet the big “disease organizations” like the AHA, AMA, ADA, and the ACS are not telling us what we need to know about nutrition. But, there are a handful of medical doctors who are telling us the complete truth — and we have short “diabetes” videos from four of them on this page.
Like many people say when they hear something they’ve never heard before, “Well, I’ll need to hear that from more than one doctor.” How about four more? Take just ten minutes and listen to what Dr. Michael Greger, Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Joel Fuhrman and Dr. Neal Barnard have to say about diabetes.
First from Dr. Michael Greger (nutritionfacts.org)
Next is Dr. John McDougall (drmcdougall.com)
Next, Dr. Joel Fuhrman (drfuhrman.com)
Batting clean-up, Dr. Neal Barnard has devoted a great deal of his career to battling diabetes. Here are two great videos, the first is 3 minutes and the second one (the most recent) is a TEDx video running about 18 minutes.
In the past two years, I have posted over twenty blogs about diabetes; here are ten of them that you might find helpful:

One-on-one MD Help. Sadly, 95% of our medical doctors are not aware of the power of plant-based nutrition to prevent or reverse many chronic diseases, including some cancers. Further, oncologists can only recommend the treatment regimens for which they have been trained.
If you would like a second opinion (about diabetes) from a medical doctor who truly “gets it” about food, you may wish to visit our MD Help page and schedule a telephone consultation with one of the MDs listed there.
This page now appears in the alphabetical drop-down listing under our “Diseases” tab, so it can easily be found in the future. Please forward this page to anyone you know who may be interested in learning more about the causes and prevention of type 2 diabetes.
