Alexandra Stoddard. Famous writer and healthy eater…

Endorses our book; adding “healthy eating” information in her next book

The first Alexandra Stoddard book that I ever read was Living A Beautiful Life — about twenty-five years ago and fifteen years before I met her. In 2003, imagine my delight when I learned that the woman who wrote all about beautiful living had chosen the same seaside community as I had; for her home — Stonington, CT.

They really do “live a beautiful life” every day. This was taken in the early afternoon of a sparkling Tuesday in the early summer of 2011 — at the Dog Watch Cafe in Stonington.

During the past eight years, Alexandra and her husband, Peter Megargee Brown (Yale grad, attorney, author) have become dear friends and fellow pioneers on the road to eating foods that promote not only our own health, but the health of the planet as well. Just after finishing our manuscript last November, I invited Alexandra and Peter to attend a packed-house private viewing of Forks Over Knives (where I was the M.C.) in a cinema in Mystic, CT.

Already moving toward a plant-based diet, that movie really got their attention and influenced them to pick up the pace. Since then, they report a number of health benefits such as weight-loss, not getting sick as often, feeling better in general, etc. But the most impressive thing that I have heard from them is that Peter’s chronic arthritis has simply disappeared — in his 90th year. Hallelujah!

After writing about beautiful living, happiness and joy for over thirty years, Alexandra is in the process of adding a chapter on healthy eating in her twenty-eighth book — which will be published in 2012. After all, how beautiful can your life be if you don’t have your health? And how much more beautiful could it be if you’re promoting the health of the planet, saving fossil fuels, feeding the world’s hungry and ending the suffering of animals—all at the same time?

For the past year, I have visited with Alexandra and Peter often while they were dining at the Water Street Cafe in Stonington — always talking about the grassroots revolution that is taking place in plant-based nutrition.

From the very beginning, Alexandra has told me repeatedly that I was onto something really big. Earlier this year, she asked for a copy of our manuscript as she was thinking that she might like to write an endorsement for our book. And here it is, a wonderful endorsement — one of only four that will be featured on the book’s cover:

“J. Morris Hicks’s world-changing book, “Healthy Eating –Healthy World,” is compelling in transforming our health — promoting dietary choices to be over 80% from whole plant foods. Not only will we restore our own fitness, vigor and happiness as we become healthier; we will be celebrating a world-wide paradigm shift by living in harmony with nature on our precious planet.” — Alexandra Stoddard

With millions of fans around the world, this highly regarded author, speaker and former columnist for McCall’s, will influence many of those fans to lend an open ear to the message in our book. We are thrilled that she wrote this wonderful endorsement and delighted that she will be saying a few words at our book launch party at the Saltwater Farm Vineyard on September 29.

About J. Morris Hicks

A former strategic management consultant and senior corporate executive with Ralph Lauren in New York, J. Morris Hicks has always focused on the "big picture" when analyzing any issue. In 2002, after becoming curious about our "optimal diet," he began a study of what we eat from a global perspective ---- discovering many startling issues and opportunities along the way. In addition to an MBA and a BS in Industrial Engineering, he holds a certificate in plant-based nutrition from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, where he has also been a member of the board of directors since 2012. Having concluded that our food choices hold the key to the sustainability of our civilization, he has made this his #1 priority---exploring all avenues for influencing humans everywhere to move back to the natural plant-based diet for our species.
